Scorcher for Race 1

We saw extreme temperatures for the opening round of the 2019 Virgin Australia Supercar Championship at the Superloop Adelaide 500.

Richie started the opening race of the season from 17th, and James just behind in 18th.

James did a great job to move up four places to finish in 14th and Richie dropped back one position after a hard charge brought the #33 home in 18th.

We caught up with James post race during his ice-bath session; “Good day for us, we picked off a few cars which was our goal and made a few changes to the car before the race which definitely helped. The team did a great job through the pit stops and we weaved our way through the field as easiest as we could have. Lost a couple of spots late in the race with a cramp in my leg and other than that, it was smooth sailing. Looking forward to tomorrow and seeing what we can do there.”

Richie is still coming to grips with the Boost Mobile Racing commodore and drove a clean race. “We came home in 18th, so basically finished where we started. Would have been nice to move forward a bit, but hopefully we can do better tomorrow. Long tough race out there, so we learnt a lot, and yeah, we’ll have a look at where we can improve and go better tomorrow.”

We do it all again tomorrow for the final day here in Adelaide, with a final qualifying session, another top ten shootout and 250km race.
